Ηλίας Δούλης

My name is Helias Doulis and I'm a 21-year-old Creative and Professional Writing and Film Studies student at the University of Wolverhampton. I started taking pictures almost three years ago, like a maniac. It was love at first sight, like it's always been with my poems, with the difference of being able to instantly express how I feel about a specific object, a landscape or a person at that particular time. I approach my photography with the same passion I approach my everyday life: the people and objects that surround me and the places I have been. I get inspired by the male body, the male psyche and everything that happens to refer to it by revealing its beauty to my eyes whether in a raw or a delicate way. I get inspired by those empty old buildings that look forgotten by people and time, but are still fighting for remembrance, like we all do. I am in love with the extreme depths that the underground can provide, with that tight feeling that bridges can give to my eyes, the feeling of uncertainty, ambiguity, and prolongation into time and space. Seeing everything with a cinematic vision, the vision of a photograph that has already been edited and filtered in my brain, it’s a game that I play with myself all day long. What I love about the art of editing is that it can transform a monotonic picture or a picture that seems to be lifeless, to a something that breathes, to a picture that contains an expression of time, feeling, and aesthetic.
